Though it was announced earlier, some customers may still be in the dark about the new rate increases that went into effect on December 1. In any case, it’s important to know which five major PA electric utilities hiked their PTC rate and how much this increase could affect your winter electricity bills.

Did Your Utility Company Increase Its Electric Rate?

While some PA electric utility companies increases were modest, others were downright chilling!

  • Duquesne Light: increased its rate from 7.41 cents per kWh to 7.98 cents per kWh.
  • Met-Ed: raised its rate from 7.114 cents per kWh to 7.414 cents per kWh.
  • PECO: hiked its rate from 6.597 cents per kWh to 7.021 cents per kWh.
  • PPL: increased its PTC rate from 7.544 cents per kWh to a whopping 9.502 cents per kWh.
  • West Penn Power: hiked its supply charges from 5.447 cents per kWh to 5.698 cents per kWh.
