“ I was told that they would lower my electric bill but, in fact, they have been charging me 3 times what my previous aggregate company was charging me. I would never have agreed to switch if I had known this. ”
“ I never signed up for this and I had no knowledge of this company!!! You dont need a 3rd party for your electric. I just moved into my place and my electric bill is very low even in this summer heat my bill was only $200 and thats with everything on and running so this next month I received a new bill and its saying I owe $1200 and 90% of that amount is for new inspire supply charges smh remind you I NEVER signed up for anything or authorize any other company! So i called Pepco and they said I have to call inspire so I had to google the number because I didnt even know what company it is and when I contacted them they told me I had to email a copy of bill because they dont even see an account for me smh so now Im waiting for a manager to remove the charges from my bill and to call me back! These people are scammers and whoever decided to go with them I hope and pray you dont have to pay that amount for supply charges so for anyone please avoid this company and also look at your bill to see if there is a difference in the amount of charges. ”
“ I was told my electric bill would be less. All it did was increase by the amount of the Inspire monthly fee which started at $54.99 and jumped to $294.99! When I called Inspire about the new charge, they lowered it to $159.99 for 12 months. I cancelled on January 18, prior to the "auto-renewal" of January 24. I was still billed for two months after the cancellation due to "THEIR billing cycle"! How convenient for them!!! March, I was charged $189.99. So that is $159.99 and $189.99 that I will never get back. How is this legal? ”
“
Signed up in BJs, should have known better.
Hard to reach anyone at this company, which is never a good sign.
But, then, after the "introductory rate," price per kwh TRIPLED!
That new rate was DOUBLE what I was paying before.
Cannot say anything good about Inspire Energy. ”
“ When I switched back to my local energy supplier I saved $40 in distribution charges on my first bill. I was being way overcharged by Inspire. ”
“
Inspire is a complete rip off!! They told me my bill will be cheaper than my current electric supplier. That was a big fat lie!!! My bill with Jcp&L monthly was around 150s to 160s, before I switched to Inspire. Now, my bill went up an additional $150.00 a month. I did not realize this for months after being with this lying deceitful company.
Something told me to check my bill and sure enough, I was as being robbed every month for $150.00 dollars. I cancelled my contract immediately on 8/30/23. Please do not sign you will be sorry later. ”
“ Horrible company. A representative of Inspire knocked on my door and lied to my face, saying that they represented my cities electric company. He also lied and said that my payment would be the same each month. Based on other reviews, this seems to be pretty common. Once I found out what happened and saw that they quickly adjusted the monthly fee they were charging me, I called and canceled my agreement. I thought all was fine until I received a renewal notice in the mail. Turns out, they didn't cancel my account when I asked. They continued charging me for over a year. I've never had a company be so dishonest. Avoid at all costs. ”
“ A customer for 3 years. My latest 12 month contract expired and Inspire sent me an auto renewal contract with a 20% increase. I went to my utility's "shopping page" and I see them advertising a rate that is equivalent to my current rate. The rep explained that this was for new customers only. So, I cancelled and went with a competitor that gave me a rate equivalent to my current one. So....Inspire doesn't want to keep only customers, only attain new ones. It seems like a bad business model to me...... ”
“ Not only was my October 2023 bill shockingly high, they lied when I called and tried to cancel. They said they would switch me to a flat-rate promtional plan, but my most recent bill is still at almost 25 cents per kwh, twice what Atlantic City Electric charges. So I dropped them but still have to pay another full month of charges. I'm furious and confused, as I've been using them for years with no hassles. ”
“ Signed up with Inspire on 12 month contract. Upon renewal Inspire wanted to raise my rate, which is understandable, but that were raising it higher then the transport utility would charge. ”
“
I've been an Inspire customer since 2016. I live in NJ. The sales rep wasn't pushy or deceptive. Everything was fine until I received my October 2023 bill, which was twice my previous bill ($440). I felt there had to be some kind of mistake, perhaps because a new meter had been installed.
I called Atlantic City Electric, who sends the bills, and they said the increase came from Inspire and that Inspire was charging me 25 cents per kwh, twice what Atlantic City charges. I called Inspire and got a very pleasant Brazilian rep who said something about a change to my plan and that they were going to start notifying NJ customers by email when their plans changed. I felt this was a scam, or maybe he was covering up an internal mistake. Anyway, he gave me a 12-month fixed rate of $94 a month and a contract, and made sure I knew I could cancel at any time with no penalty, and refunded me my money from last month plus some incentives. So I'm getting back over $250.
I plan to cancel them at the end of the 12 months as this all feels odd, but I'll take advantage of the 12-month discount. Even if it was a mistake, just say "we made a mistake." Since my Nov bill went back to normal before I called, I think it was just a mistake but I'll be watching closely especially after reading about others' experiences. ”
“ Inspire is a total rip off. They never explained that they put me on an unlimited plan, charged me a crazy amount of money every month, and after speaking to a Pepco rep he said that I didn't use half the energy that I paid, for was gone the entire month on June and my bill never changed. Just awful, I will never use them again. ”
“ For the Philadelphia area, there is no doubt in our minds that the clear overwhelming choice for us was Inspire Energy. We've worked with some of the other Elect Co's and Inspire is without a doubt, head and shoulders above them all in every category ”
“ Entering my 2nd.year. Slight increase this year but what isn't ? Last year my supply rate was lower than national grid on both of there rate adj. I have a 12 month contract again and there is no charge to cancel should I decide to. However I have no intention to . They have a good customer service as well. I do not understand how anyone could have an issue with this company. At least in Massachusetts it's cut and dry. You pay a set kwh rate for supply cost and lock into that for 12 months. And it lower than National Grid. Thank you Inspire Clean Energy ! ”
“ I left my phone at a shell gas station were a sales rep for inspire was working . I had no password on my phone which i have changed after this experience and now have password on my phone. They took my info signed me up on a ridiculous plan at 27 cents a kil which my normal plan with my provider is 10 cents a kil, i did not know any of this was happening until i received my bill. I looked into it further through inspire and found out i was signed up from rep at shell gas station on the same day i left my phone at fuel pump. rep illegally signed me up on a ridiculously expensive plan by stealing my identity . I had to contact my electric provider cancel out inspire and go back to provider I had. The difference in 2 months of billing from them amounted to 1046.11. For weeks they have said they apologize and will send a check for difference, check never came and then my 2nd time talking to them they told me they sent check for 342$ no where near they amount that they owe me. I have contacted the attorney general and a Lawyer to file criminal charges and civil charges. If anybody has experienced the same situation I would advise you do the same. ”
“ Sales person came to my house in May and told me would cost less. Fortunately njng puts the price comparison on their bill, and inspire was 13%more. I then checked jcp&l bill, and inspire cost more too, about 30%higher per kwh rate. I immediately called and cancelled both. Also called jcp&l and njng to make sure change was put through. ”
“ Sankvira comes To my door asking about the pseg bill i told her its not in my name but she insists it doesnt have to be . Tells me she can lower my pseg by switching to in state sourced energy only and cut my bill in half. Bill doubles and it turns out i was switched from pseg altogether, cancelled and have to wait 1-2 billing cycles for my bill to go back to how it was . Not an honest company . ”
“ Steer clear of inspire clean energy! They are a scam and will increase your rates 2 to 3 times as they did me. They approached me at BJs with an offer of a free gift card to take a quick survey. Sales person without my knowledge or consent signed me up for service. Totally fraudulent company to do this to people. ”
“ When I initially signed up, I was promised that my rate would be only slightly higher than my current provider and that in paying "slightly" more, that I would be supporting clean energy. My rate increased, without notice, to double the rate. I am now paying more than double my electricity consumption for their delivery services. Of course, in order to cancel, one must wait several billing cycles while paying astronomical amounts to this company. This company's practices are fraudulent! ”
“ Representative, Anika, flat out lied to me several times in Giant Eagle stating I would not fully become a customer unit I PROVIDE my account number. Big fat lie. 9 days later I get a welcome email without providing any additional information whatsoever. She stood there and had me go through the screens one by one stating SEVERAL TIMES THAT IT WAS OKAY & NOTHING CAN GO THROUGH WITHOUT ME PROVIDING MY ACCOUNT NUMBER. ”
