“ Beware at all costs. There pricing is a scam to get you signed up. And since there is this strange relationship with BGE and electric providers, you don't get the real information in your billings about how the supplier is charging. I had to cancel my service because they stated they could not honor the price they promised at the time of new service. They agreed not to charge a cancellation fee, but they still did. And since it's thru BGE billings... it's would be a pain in the neck to resolve. I'm just glad to free from such a shady company. And yes, there were others aspects of my dealings with them that add to their shadiness (but I'd rather not type out a full article for these bums). Good luck all. ”
“ I was approached at Stop and Shop by a representative of this company. He assured me that I would receive the same rate as my current bill, which he was able to view on his tablet. I did not notice the outrageous increase for a few months. I am so angry with myself for not looking into this sooner. My bill was over $100 per month more expensive. Of course, Inspire customer service was unable to address this issue. This is fraud. ”
“ I learned my MIL's energy suppler was changed to Inspire without her consent last month. Reporting to the PUC. What they're doing is illegal. ”
“ They just almost double my rate in one month they went from 0.1489x kWh to .2699 x kWh ”
“
Inspire has come to my apartment complex multiple times. They lie and use aggressive sales tactics to make it seem like you will save money. I fell for it in January and signed up. When my bill doubled, I immediately canceled. Last weekend, they came back and tried the same thing again.
The reps talked insanely fast and gave vague answers to simple questions. I asked multiple times if they were trying to get me to switch suppliers to which they said no. When I asked what company they were from they said "Energy Choice", which is not a company, it's the program that allows you to shop different suppliers. They would not leave when I said I was not interested in their service. They insisted I was already a customer of theirs, and that they were simply there to "update" my plan. I showed them my paperwork from my current supplier, but they tried to say the new rates they were "updating" would mean cheaper bills since I used a certain amount of energy each month. This ended up being a lie, too.
None of it was making sense to me and in my confusion, I almost gave in to the pressure again. The last step of sign up is a 3rd party verification over the phone. The reps made me put the phone on speaker. The verifier asked if the salespeople had left the premises. They hadn't - they were right next to me coercing me to say "yes". Then the verifier asked if I consented to switching suppliers, at which point I insisted the reps leave and told the verifier I did not consent. I only wish I had done the same thing in January. ”

A representative came to my door promising that my electricity bill would be reduced if I switched my electricity service to Inspire Energy. The door-to-door representative from Inspire Energy lied to me. My generation rate INCREASED by 50% after switching services.
I am a first-time homeowner, and at the time I didn't know how to read my electric bill. In NJ no matter who your provider is (PSE&G, JCP&L, or Atlantic City Electric) you are billed for service/delivery and generation. Both are based on your usage but both have separate rates. Inspire Energy, or any 3rd party generation service, is instead going to bill you for a generation but not service/delivery, which will stay with your provider and at this time can't be changed.
If you're reading this after a representative came to your door, call them back and ask them what your new GENERATION rate will be. If they give you the runaround just cancel your sign-up process.
If you're reading this after signing up and wondering why your bill is so high compare it to your old bill and see if your generation cost increased significantly.
You can cancel at any time, I just emailed them at help@inspirecleanenergy.com, didn't have to wait in line or actually talk to anyone and the CS representatives didn't give me much hassle. I also emailed JCP&L back and they implied they can also cancel 3rd party generation service as well.
Out of curiosity, I stayed with Inspire Energy for a few billing cycles after signing up thinking it was possible the JCP&L rates would increase over Inspire's. That never happened. JCP&L's rates did fluctuate but not very much. Insprie's was consistent, but it was consistently much more expensive than JCP&L's rates.
I'm all for going with 100% renewable clean energy, but this company practices deceptive marketing. There are other 100% renewable energy providers that are much more ethical. I would advise everyone to stay away from them. ”
“ Biggest mistake I ever made, wasn't sold on inspire energy to begin with but very pushy team at giant eagle in sarver pa was enough to put me over the edge,my electric went up almost 40 percent and had to call the pic to cancel ”
“ Got a flat rate plan. No notice of it expiring when I bought it. Expired and they jumped the rate exponentially. Got all their money plus some for the original purchase. Stay away!!! ”
“ I just had a sales person come to my home and lie about PECO no longer supplying my energy and that Inspire is the company that supplies it now. When asking questions to understand why a person was visiting my home to discuss this, they could not answer. This is incredibly deceptive. These clean energy companies are much more expensive than PECO and you don't get to choose who supplies your energy, even if you do sign up for these companies to be your suppliers. ”
“ I was approached by 2 guys telling me they were from MY POWER COMPANY, West Penn Power, going door to door throughout my neighborhood trying to "Fix" the power bills. They CLAIMED that our Power company had been charging us all 3 different prices per KW for the past few months and they were going to be giving refunds along with a fixed rate of .10cent per KW. They knew that I knew nothing about how these bills get calculated and fed off that! They promised a cheaper bill starting with the next cycle and I unfortunately believed their lies! I'm a disabled single mother of 3, my current bill was hard enough to pay, now my new bill has an EXTRA charge, by Inspire for $110!!! These people scam and LIE to people, feeding off the ignorance of those who only look at the bills balance and pay. DON'T LET THEM FOOL YOU!! THEY NEED TO BE SHUT DOWN!!! I WILL be contacting BBB about this and I urge everyone they scammed to do so as well!! ”
“ Had a great experience with the company really happy w/ my decision and the fact that my family and I are going green ”
“
Total scam.
Signed up after stopping to give my time to a rep at a kiosk in a Giant Eagle grocery store.
I just trusted that it was a legit business because they were allowed to setup shop.
I was told that Id be saving money converting from Ohio Edison. Turns out, Inspire is twice the cost. Called four days prior to the start date of my contract to cancel and was told that Id still be responsible for 1-2 billing cycles.
Ohio Edison said they had no control over this. ”
“
I just started living on my own at an apartment complex in Sept 2022. I am young and nave. The inspire door to door people were personable and tricked me into believing them. They seem legit with all the forms and whatever. In January of 2023 when it started, my utility bill jumped up $100. I cancelled it immediately and still have to pay since it's a "slow cancellation process". I complained again since now its $110 and waiting to hear back. They stole $210 already. I don't believe that they will cancel and I will be stuck paying $100 extra every month.
These people are evil. They take advantage of the inexperienced. It's a cruel world and Inspire makes it worse.
Cancel IMMEDIATELY! Its a SCAM!! ”
“ They charge about 60% more than constellation! They said it would be less. Liars! ”
“ While I had them the price was fine. easy to stay with them, was average or below the area rates for 2 years. When I switched to someone else, the harassment began. I get letters in the mail that look like collection notices until you open them and it is just a sales pitch. I get called 3-4 times a day asking me to sign back up with them. ”
“
A rep from this company opened an account in my name without my permission and stole hundreds of dollars. After reading other reviews, this seems like their standard practice
If you're able, please report them to the FTC to prevent this from happening to others. It's a really quick and easy process

“ Doubled my bill!!!! Don't believe the hype. They will tell you they can knock your bill down to like $35 a month, but that's only one part of the charges. I can't go into all the details here because it would take too long. But don't do it, these are the highest electric bills I have ever had in my life. SCAM, SCAM, SCAM, SCAM, SCAM. My bill was twice the amount as it was before I previously signed up with them. PASS THE WORD AROUND!!! DON'T SIGN U WITH INSPIRE CLEAN ENERGY!!!! ”
“ This company is a scam and organized criminals. They contacted me years ago offering me a flat rate energy saying I will save money and I fell for it. I recently talked to a lady at the public utilities commission of Ohio that informed me that I had overpaid for service every single month and never saved a penny. I warn you to do your homework and avoid this scam at all costs! Flat rate sounds great but they make sure they always get paid! Avoid at all costs! ”
“ Basically the same thing as everyone else has already said. Got approached in BJ's about having cheap clean energy and a month later got an almost $400 bill when my usage in the past 2 years averaged between $66 to $90 a month. Called the first time and they said they would see what they could do for me about refunding the outrageous amount and never got back to me then 4 days later I get a letter in the mail stating my new rate is over $300 a month. I called back and asked what they were going to do about my almost $400 bill and they pretend that they said that they already said I cannot be refunded then realized by the call log that they did promise that they will look into it for me and just said that they are sorry but that representative was wrong and they have a no refund policy. I asked her how would she feel if she was in my position on a budget and now facing a payment 4 months worth of electricity and she didn't say anything. I asked who will pay the late fees every month since I wouldn't be able to pay all at once she said she is sorry but they can't do anything about it. They basically charged me almost $1 per KW and I'm stuck with the bill. I guess now I'll just have to leave $400 worth of bad reviews on every possible platform on the internet. Stay away from these people. ”
“ FO NOT SIGN UP TO THIS!!! DEFINITELY NOT WORTH IT!!! THEY CHARGE WAY MORE THAN OWN ELECTRIC COMPANY!!! ”
