“ They made my bill jump $300 ”
“ They changed my carrier to them without my permission! ”
“ Woman at my door stating my electric and gas supplier sent her to review my services and I should have received something on the mail from my utility companies. Told me I needed to show her my utility bills and I asked why and she said because your utility company sent me to review them. I asked her for ID And she had a lanyard with Inspire on it but no permit from the city. PLUS I have a no soliciting sign on my door. I told her I was not interested but she insisted the utility company wanted her to be at my house. I told her to leave and she blew me a kiss as she left. ”
“ I signed up with a competitive low rate only to be renewed the 2nd year at a much higher rate without a renewal notice or option to opt out. The company gave me 3 days to renew - but never sent a letter or email so it took me a month to notice the increase on my electric bill. Customer service was mediocre and did not care much, giving me a different story about the renewal the three times I called. Was able to cancel but only after a month or two on the lower rate. ”
“ I ended up paying more with inspire. Very deceitful company ”
“ I agreed with a flat bill. The flat bill went up after 2 months and was about $20/month higher than what PSEG would have charged. I figured is Ok since is flat billing and during summer will cost more. In July they start charging $0.24/KWH while PSEG would have been $0.13/KWH. ”
“ Talked my husband into get inspire energy even though my name is on the account. He was told it didnt matter as long as he had the account number. I kept watching my bill go up and had no clue why until the light company told me inspire been charging me 200.00 a month. ”
“ I signed up for 3 months at $94.99 per month. They would not tell me what the renew rate would be. After about one month they sent me a renew notice for around $360 / month - automatic renew. I notified them and said I did not want to renew and so they stopped my service about 2 months early. I asked them to keep our agreement for the 3 month period, but they said they could not do that. My final bill was a little higher than it should have been. This is a RIPE OFF !!!! ”
“ I was conned into trying this company by a salesperson in BJS..was promised it was only to get pricing information yet looks like they already started my account without my consent!! Bge dropped us and now they want us to pay TWICE the amount we did before! INSANITY they want $419.99 a month I will be fighting this and telling everyone I know to stay away from your company. Bad business practice and feel like Ive been conned into something I could never AFFORD ”
“ They offer a very low introductory monthly fee (regardless of usage) for the first couple of months and then a higher fixed monthly fee thereafter (again regardless of usage). They base this fee on an estimate of your average monthly usage after looking at your utility bill. I was aware that I was paying more than what my local utility was charging, but was willing to pay a little more for "clean" energy. The catch is that after a total of 12 months doing business with them, they switch you to an exorbitant metered KWH rate without any advance notice (NJ law apparently doesn't require them to tell you about this!). Shame on me for not staying on top of this! When I realized I was being charged an outrageous amount (3x the metered KWH rate charged by my local utility!), I got another nasty surprise: it takes a couple of billing cycles to get rid of them. This 2 month window alone cost me almost $650 over what my utility provider would've charged me! Don't fall for this bait and switch scam like I did! ”
“ I was at BJs and a rep came up to promote their plan. I pulled up my previous bill to view the rates I was currently paying. He showed his chart that listed what I would be paying with Inspire. I rate was lower than I currently was paying. So, I signed up. Got my bill and it was more than double the rate that I was expecting. Shame on BJs for allowing these people to accost their customers. ”
“ An Inspire employee came to my mom's house on 6/6/2022. Mom is elderly and lives alone. The employee used high pressure tactics to try and get my mom to switch. She called me while the employee was there and put him on the phone with me. He falsely stated that mom was currently a customer of Inspire (she isn't) and that he was there to "make sure she wasn't switched without her consent to another supplier". The man insisted that I tell him the details from mom's bill to confirm this. I said we're not interested in switching and that I did not appreciate someone bothering mom at her home. The employee stated that he was sent because we didn't respond to a mailing. I told him to please leave. He refused and stated that if I couldn't provide him with the billing info to confirm our supplier, he or someone else from Inspire would keep coming back until we did. This was threatening and unethical behavior. I told him again he needed to leave or I would contact the police. He finally relented but then accused my mom of being racist before storming off. This was unprofessional, illegal sales tactics involving fraud. And it was trespassing as he remained even after I told him to leave the premises. I will be contacting the state utilities commission about this. And the police will be called if any Inspire employee sets foot on my mom's property again. ”
“ I spoke with a rep on the phone about my current plan and they searched competitor rates for me. A real person that didn't read from a script was very refreshing. In Mass, you can buy power from the utility company and they are cheaper than clean energy. It can confuse people that you have to pay for energy, and also the infrastructure it takes to deliver it separately. As long as you understand that, you can better gauge the energy marketplace. I'm happy to pay a bit more for clean energy. ”
“ Showed up at my door! Refused to leave..demanded to see my bill. Very rude. ”
“ I was approachd by representative outside my house. He assured me that only was it cleaner more reliable energy but, it was going to cost me less on my energy bill. That is not true the one time that you get any kind of a discount is when they charge the 6999 or whatever it is on that first month as opposed to whatever the charges for the supply. The distribution which comes through your carrier in my case BG&E whether its budget billing or not its always through them also the gas is always for them which I also did not understand. This company is basically scamming you and charging you as much as $.12 a kilowatt as opposed to eight cents on my PG&E. When I asked the lady if you want to keep me as a customer And asked how are you helping me she just goes back to that its a reliable energy source. Pain in my ass, not very helpful and lost my business ”
“ They were very deceptive with their prices, said it was going to be $39, it was increased to $119 a month, from the beginning. How did it go up so much!!! Horrible!!! They intentionally mislead. ”
“ When I signed up I was reluctant. The gentleman promised me a $100 Gift card fajita for signing up which I never received after multiple calls. I was also told my energy charges from Inspire would be 59.99 a month on MAX . I have been charge out of the last 9 months 79.99 on average but as high as 159.98 a month. I have called multiple times to wait on hold for almost an hour to just have the call hung up. I cant even get a hold of customer service to cancel it for months now!! I have one adult one small child in a home completely energy efficient and remodeled my old electric bill before enrolling in this was half of what I am charged now. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS COMPANY!!! ”
“ I don't even know yet how much money Inspire robbed me of, but it seems possible it's well over $4000. I apparently agreed by phone in July 2017 to a "contract" (never saw a contract though) and never received anything from them - no notices of contract expiration, nothing. Just learned they have been increasing my rate to, now, 2.5 times the standard rate. I'm livid. I can't afford to have thousands stolen from me. I've filed a complaint with the PUC. ”
“
So far, so good. Too bad the competitive rates are 6 months at a time, but other than that - Super!
Thanks customer service for a smooth transition from my previous supplier :)) ”
“ Long story short I had a contracted fixed term price for 6 months from 7/7/21 through 1/7/22 and they started billing me a higher rate on 12/17/21 and are attempting to not issue the rightful credit. The overcharge was only $54.14 but its significant and this company is trying to be unethical about it. DO NOT USE THEM OEBYOU WILL REGRET IT. I wont be paying them this amount. Only what is legitimately Sue to them. Very shady and unethical. ”
