Quick response
The electric on my parent's farm went off with a bang. We suspected the transformer. Within 2 hours, the serviceman Brent came, found a dead squirrel at the bottom of the electric pole and restored the electric inside of 10 minutes. I greatly appreciated that even though he had already had full day, he quickly set my parents at ease. Great service. |

Met Ed is still best bargain.
The devil you know is better than the devil you haven't met. I am very pleased with the rate Met Ed charges and when I compare it to the other plans available it is still one of the lowest one out there. The others give you a rate that draws you in but after the trial period it will likely go up! I have never changed and it is unlikely that I will change as long as Met Ed remains competitive. |

Preventative Tree Maintenance
So I have made a number of calls about dead tree limbs over our driveway. Med Ed sent out a "tree crew" who slept for at least half the the three days on our driveway and did not address the issues we had. They we never fixed. Tonight we had a major tree fall on our power (which I warned would happen)...trapping both my ICU Nurse Daughter home as well as my wife who is a 3rd grade teacher. When I called to report the outage...I was told..."no worries' all set by 9:00 PM.....it is now 9:00 PM and you guys are 'no show' as multiply times before. Am happy to copy PUC and others...this will be the third times for issues with little or no response. |

5th power outage in a week so far
My power has been turned off without warning five times so far in this one week. Typically its out for 2 to 3 hours. Well see this time. I was in contact with MetEd and ultimately they said we cant guarantee Power 247. Ive never heard that from any power company anywhere and I have lived all over the USA.. |

Outage
They have useless information on restoration of service. Its basically and automatically 24 hours away, which is meaningless and meant to have you believe it does mean something. It doesnt. When we first moved here our service was dependable. It has gotten steadily worse. |

Still waiting
I've called 4 times over 2 separate days, on hold for much of those calls -- including a total of 2 hours today. Finally was talking to someone who seemed to be able to help me, and got cut off. Absolutely Infuriating! Not sure how I'm going to get this done. Met Ed: your customers have actual lives to attend to. Do Better!! And PUC: please look into whether or not this company is able to able to provide adequate service their customers deserve better. |

My boyfriend and I have been out of power for a week. We cant even take a hot shower. I cant do my college and all our food is going bad. Met-Ed does not even care. We are so mad and tired of the people and customer service at Met-Ed. We paid our bills on time and you want to shut off our power. Thanks now our food is bad, we dont have hot water and we are hot in our apartment because we have no cold air just hot air. This is uncalled for. They need to get better people and get the crap together. |

Just spoke with Steven #57505 from Med-Ed but actually working for home so he couldn't help me and he couldn't get supervisor to help me because he is working from home. I might make a consumer complaint on this company for being so useless when it comes to customer service. |

Met-Ed is awful
I was behind on my bill, but paid the balance in full. Despite that, Met-Ed charged me for a $500 security deposit. They claimed I agreed to an installment plan which doesn't make sense because the bill was paid. When I asked them to explain the payment plan, they were unable to do so. Unethical for sure. |

Horrible business practices!
We were dealing with a family situation and had to get on a payment plan. We were getting ready to pay it off next month and finally get back to paying our normal usage bill. We were looking forward to it especially with the part of year coming when our bills are the lowest, a savings of $150 or more per month (compared to what we have been paying). Not only that, with the holidays coming this was a blessing after being on a high monthly plan for well over a year. We had contacted billing and had everything squared away to be completely caught up. Then we get this months bill and there's a new $394 charge!? When I called and told them that I had just recently spoke to someone and everything was good, that I would make a $200 by the end of August and be back on track, they didn't want to hear it. Keep in mind, I gave them $250 instead of the $200 I had promised and it was way before the end of the month. Not only that, our account also has $168 worth of credit that we overpayed throughout the year. When I questioned the $394, which wasn't the new usage charged, I was told by the representative, "don't pay it and we will shut off your electric". Seems very convenient that after months on end of getting $235 a month from us, and now going into the part of the year where they would get $60-$80 a month, an almost $400 fee pops up. When I asked to speak to a manager to discuss the charge and try to work something out I was told "you don't need to speak to a manager there's nothing they can do". Horrible business practices and terrible customer service! If you have to deal with them, good luck! If you have a choice, I definitely recommend going elsewhere as any other company would be much better and treat their customers with respect! |

Worst company ever
As i write this im still on hold waiting for a supervisor for over two hours. I had made a payment arrangement with a rep last week. She took a hundred dollar pymt from me. Another 100 was to be paid this past Saturday, and another and last pymt to be made this Saturday. Because no one is there on Saturday Memorial day weekend, the virtual chat guy wouldn't let me place my pymt. Met ed was closed on Monday, holiday! So now i tried to make my pymt. They said i owe two hundred today or im shut off. I already have an arrangement in place. I tried to make my pymt. I will get a lawyer and sue them if they shut me off. I did nothing wrong but try to honor my pymt agreement. I just had three major surgeries and this is not good gor me. And ... Im still on hold. Awful company |

You try to come to an agreement to pay a bill and they shut you off while on the phone with them and the person they send to shut it off knows for a fact you have been on the phone with Met Ed. They don't care about you or situation. They create hardship and then charge more to turn it on. When they simply push a button |

Not even a customer yet and agitated
I tried to put in a request online to start services with Met-ed First Energy. I received an email reply that stated I would have to call in to set up services. I tried calling in and the automated line stated there was a 3 hour wait to talk to a customer service representative and to leave my number to recieve a call back. After 3 hours I recieved a call back. The customer service rep informed me that I needed to talk to someone in a different department to set up my account and put my on hold to wait for a rep in the correct department. I waited on hold for 2 and a half hours. They told me I needed to send 2 forms of identification to an email address and then call back in about 20 minutes to verify they recieved my documentation and accepted it. I go through the grueling 5 hour process of trying to get in touch with a person yet again after sending them an email. Why does it take 10 hours of phone time to set up an account? Why is it my responsibility to call Met-Ed back to verify they accept my documentation? Wouldn't an email reply to my email be more efficient? If it is this difficult to become a customer I can not imagine the hassle one could run into needing support for any other item. |

Terrible Customer Service
This is 2nd time in 2 business days that I have had to contact MetEd. The first was to tell them that they hadn't billed a $5000 a month account since September. I was on the phone for over 2 hours. The second time was to try to pay my bill online. I have been on hold for 1 hour and 45 minutes and the clock is still ticking. The automated message said 18 to 23 minutes. No one can help you. It shouldn't be that hard to take a payment over the phone. Shame on you MetEd. Give me PECO anyday. |

This company and its customer service is complete trash. They are greedy and do not care about trying to help their customers. The customer service is horrible when you can actually get them on the phone after them transferring you several timeseach time their they have high call volumes and put you on a return call list for an hour each time they need to transfer you. When you do get someone on the phone they dont attempt to help you and are dismissive. The company is money hungry and greedy and they seem to get their customer service agents from the sewer. |

If you have a choice, dont choose them
We unfortunately do not have an option in our neighborhood for a different provider. These guys have been an absolute joke. First, our electric use to go out ALL the time, it rained we had no power. Windy? Forget it, no power. They replaced all the lines in our neighborhood this summer, and took months to fill in the holes they dug, then the neighborhood had to plant the grass!!! Immediately after that my electric Bill doubled! Nothing changed in our home, if anything we turned off our AC, and the bill should have been less! Here found out that somehow a third party electric company was providing our electric through MedEd! After fighting with them to cancel it our electric bill finally went back to normal. Now, were caught up to today. We loose a leg to our home, HAD to get an electrician to come confirm that. MedEd calls me and talks to me about it, tells me over the phone its a leg and he can see it on his side. He still sends a service technician to confirm what he and my electrician said. The service tech tells me the same exact thing and then tells me a tech crew is on the way. Two hours later they STILL are not here! Meanwhile I have stressed to MedEd that we are on well water, that our furnace is ran with the well water and temperatures are now dropping below 58 in my home. The response? They understand and will get someone here... I called back and stressed the fact that I have had no water or heat in my home for 6 hours now. This ladys response? Theyll have the power restored by 11pm, thats the only answer they can give me. Thats in less than 10 minutes.. this has been going on since 4pm!! |

A Rotten Company
Only giving one star because zero stars isn't an option. But you DO NOT even deserve 1 star. I cannot stand Met-Ed. I delt with them at my old apartment and now here....with NO NOTICE they shut off my electric this morning. They claim they made several attempts...but they had the WRONG contact information on file for me, yet they say I AM RESPONSIBLE for that. After 3 phone calls, being on hold for 45 minutes EACH TIME I called, talking to numerous people, 2 different supervisors and paying $400 they are telling me that my electric still may not be even turn back on for 3 days. This is ridiculous....I have a 6 month old baby and it is 90 outside.I also have health issues myself but because I do not have papers from my doctors proving it, it doesn't count as an emergency. I have no where else to go at the moment. The supervisors rudely interupt you and they do not even attempt to be anywhere close to sympathetic or empathetic to people's situations. When I move, I am making for DAMN SURE that I go some where that does NOT have met-ed so that I NEVER have to deal with this ROTTEN company again. Clearly I am not the first unsatisfied customer. Good luck getting your reputation back! |
