Disconnect Fees and Problems (450 reviews)
Good Price Ok Service
“
PROS: Love the price, no hidden fees, very basic and simple monthly billing statement.
CONS: Customer service seem a bit dry and lacks enthusiasm, the automated phone system using the 1800# kept disconnecting me, their web page has too many rate to choose from (32 rates can be a bit confusing), their web page also needs to have a link on how to renew your contract.

Loyal Customer
“ I've been a loyal customer for almost 10 years now. I had to switch accounts for my billing. In the switch, I accidentally attempted to pay the bill with my old account. Well, once I found out that I made the mistake, I was charged a late fee, disconnect notice fee, and a returned payment fee....Though these charges were only $57, I have a problem with them not waiving them because of my tenure and loyalty as a good customer. I have a house full and I shell out at times up to $500 a month or more for service. Quite disappointed. ”

Unable to reach a Customer Service Rep for Days & Many wasted Hours!!
“ How in the world do you reach a live person regardless of the option chosen? I have spent many hours in the queue on multiple occasions for hours, then the call drops OR the Representatives purposely disconnect my calls. I must speak to someone since my request cannot be made on line! Go figure. Yes, due to the high call volume, we cannot accept you call. Well, hire more employees for God's sake! ”

Unfortunate Problem
“ Ive been a customer with Xoom for 3 years. Unfortunately I have to say that on my last move and switch over my lights were disconnected after 2 weeks only to find out that my lights were not switched over properly and no one could solve my issue and Im without lights for 24 to 48 hours after being on the phone for almost 2 hours of unanswered questions. This sucks for a loyal customer of 3 years of service. I was told that I had to wait on a release order because of the tenants before me witch should have happened at the time of my switch. There goes my food and its cold. ”

DISCONNECTED SERVICE, THEIR MISTAKE!!
“ I called the morning of Jun. 1,2020 to ask the why my electricity is disconnected. I clearly called them on 2 occasions to cancel my disconnection notice since I had not yet moved into my house. They told me after I waited over an hour being transferred, that they will connect me in 1 or 2 hours top. It is not 5:15 p.m I have NO ELECTRICITY & they are not answering. I am so humiliated after paying them $218.00 balance that was suppose to be made in payments & they still haven't taken the time to connect my service. It is outrageous. I have been a loyal customer for over 5 or 6 years. ”

Stay away from their "balanced billing" plan
“ Overall, I would say I'm satisfied with the rates and the friendliness of their customer service. However, I got really hosed by their "balance billing" program. Most balanced billing programs adjust the monthly average as you go in a 6 month cycle (based on actual to-date usage) to make sure that at the end of the balanced billing cycle you are not left with a huge true up amount. It's of course based on the last year average but if anything significant has changed (in my case, a new pool), that can really throw things off. Bottom line is I ended up owing $1,000 at the end of my balanced billing 6 month cycle because of it. In fairness, Champion was willing to work with me so I could pay that over a period of 3 months and I even signed a contract stating those terms. However, I continued to get disconnection notices by mail and email. The agent - who was apologetic about the situation and very professional by the way - promised my service would not be disconnected. However, it's unnerving when you continue to get disconnect notices. Well, when I finally got the pink disconnect notice stating my power would be off in 1 week, well, I just went ahead and paid in full. The good: Competitive rates, friendly customer service. The bad: Balanced Billing does not adjust monthly based on actual usage to-date to ensure you are not stuck with a huge true up bill. Contract to pay true up amount over 3 months did not prevent disconnection notices from coming my way. Would recommend Champion Energy Services for their competitive rates and friendly customer service but RUN - DON'T WALK AWAY FROM "BALANCED BILLING" PLAN! :) ”
