Terrible service and communication
“
When setting up the account I had thought I had setup automatic payments, but I was wrong. I have been back and fourth between homes so I missed the billing.
With no physical notice notice my gas was shut off. They shoved a notice in my door stating that it was shut off (maybe do this before you shut it off?). I called, but the office was closed, so I paid my bill in full immediately using their automated service. Called the next day... but it takes them two full days to turn your service back on after bill is paid in full, and even longer if you do not call to follow up. Does not mater if this is your source of heat, hot water, anything. They do not care. ”

The true cost is 17.12 mcf per day
“ The did a bait and switch, drawing me in with a promotional rate of 2.78. After, it went up to 17.12 where consumers cost is 3.27. When you realize what they did and go to cancel, it takes 2 billing cycles which pretty much means, 3 more months of their price gauging fees. I will stay away from this company like the plague. ”

Rip off
“ WGL came in at a lower than first energy and now Im paying 3 cents per KWH higher than first energy in Pennsylvania. I transferred back to first energy and now theyre hitting me up with a $90 cancellation charge that they never told me about on the phone. My recommendation is to stick with your local utility provider and stay away from companies like WGL that has hidden penalties so they can take more money from you. ”

Dishonest
“ I was contacted about switching to their .049 rates and that it would be variable and I would be informed every month what the new rate would be so I could cancel or continue. After my first initial bill I received one letter saying that the rate would be 8.9. I just received my latest bill and my current rate is $.14 per kilowatt, which is outrageous. I was never told it was going to be that high. When I signed up, the spokespersons said I would be informed. When I called them, I was just told that they dont inform people. All they did was send me a letter saying that my current rate was going to expire and that there was nothing to be done. Do not give them business as they are extremely dishonest about their rates. ”

Terrible customer service
“ Been a customer of Met-Ed for over 4 years at 1 address... trying to move my account to another address has so far, taken me 3 days and still no resolve. FINALLY got a call back today, the A$$hole on the phone pretended he couldn't hear me, then just hung up. If I had a choice to use a different power company and pay more, I 100% would do that. This company is TERRIBLE at looking after the people who pay for this terrible service. ”

Horrible horrible energy company
“ What else is there to say? Prices are extortion level high, customer service is horrible, I have all these third part energy providers who say they contract through peco calling me at all hours trying to offer me "deals" that often end up making my bill more expensive... Like Smart Energy, Just Energy... I was supposedly getting "unlimited" energy for 199 a month, according to the one lady I spoke to, and now suddenly my "budget" billing amount is back up to 600$ a month??? Ain't no way. These people are crooks who charge you whatever cuz they know they can get away with it. Worst energy company ever. ”

What a scam
“ We were approached in Sams Club and the lady basically forced us to sign up. She pulled my phone out of my hand and had me tell her the numbers to put in to dial the number so that we could call customer service to our energy provider. We didnt even give her permission yet that we wanted to switch and she immediately called them after speaking with them. She assured us that we were going to save a whole bunch of money and we were going to get a gift card from Sams Club. None of these were true. We got to the checkout and our gift card never arrived. Checking the comments I see that is a common theme. We got our first bill and it was double what we normally pay. Our bill usually runs about $250. Our first bill ran over $500. The next bill was nearly $600 and every bill since then has been right around five and $600 consistently when it used to run right around $250 There has been absolutely no savings. When we went to cancel the person on the phone was pushy and insisted on keeping us from canceling. She even offered us a discount. Then when my husband remained firm with her and said to cancel she said that it was going to take at least three to four billing cycles to process the change. It didnt take that long to put them on our bill. If you see one of these people in Sams Club run the other way do not talk to these people. They are scammers. I dont know what can be done legally, but they are breaking the law they have to be. It is shameful what they are doing to some of these people that cant afford a huge bill like that not that we can. ”
